Chris Wetzel is an associate professor of psychology at Rhodes College. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, specializing in social psychology. His central interest is in "illusion and bias," people's tendency to be deceived and to make suboptimal judgments. Specifically, he is interested in people's (poor) ability to detect impostors and con-artists and in the inferential errors that lead people to interpret their (unusual) experiences as evidence for paranormal entities or forces. He likes to hike and canoe in wilderness, especially with his wife and daughter.
