2007-2008 - Meeting Minutes
Spring 2008
April 7 (5:30 P.M., Sab 207)

The meeting will feature election of officers for next year, a discussion of plans for the upcoming Psi Chi initiation, and discussion of plans for the coming year. Free pizza and pop will be provided.
March 3 (5:30 P.M., Sab 207)
- At this meeting the Psi Chi applications will be due. The meeting will also cover how to make a poster for a research conference. Free Pizza will be provided.
Feburary 4 (5:30 P.M., Sab 207)

The meeting will feature an overview of Psi Chi, the
honorary society for psychology, including a discussion of membership
criteria and application procedures for anyone wishing to apply. This
year there will be an optional opportunity to compete for a scholarship
award paying application costs, details available at the meeting.
In addition, there will be final discussion of the year's t-shirt
design, and voting for teaching and volunteer awards. Free pizza and
pop will be provided.
Fall 2007
December 3 (5:30 P.M., Sab 103)
- Please join us to talk about how to study for the GRE and come learn about volunteer opportunities, and information about swaping textbooks. Free pizza and pop will be provided.
November 5 (5:30 P.M., Sab 103)
- Please join us to talk about the some of the different subfields in psychology and for a gossip session about the upcoming spring classes. (No professors will be allowed at the gossip session) Free
pizza and pop will be provided.
October 1st (5:30 P.M., Sab 103)
- The meeting will feature presentations about Career
Services resources for psychology majors at UNI, discussion of job
possibilities for B.A. grads, and other activities. As usual, free
pizza and pop will be provided.

faculty, their interests in both teaching and research as well
as an introduction to the club.

Preparing for the GRE (Graduate Record Exam) will be discussed; resources
available through UNI's Career Services program. Free pizza will be
provided!
November
1st (6:00 P.M.,SAB 307) -
The speaker will be Prof.
Charlotte Haselhuhn, from the UNI Department of Educational Psychology &
Foundations, talking about opportunities in school psychology. In
addition, scheduling information for Spring classes in psychology will
be discussed, and a "gossip session" will be held to share information
about courses and instructors (no faculty allowed!). Free pizza will be
provided.
December 6th
(6:00 P.M., Sab 307) -
This meeting will include a Book exchange, Voting for the treasurer position, T-shirt sign up and a Website tutorial. Free pizza will be
provided! Bowling at Maple Lanes will follow the meeting!

about undergraduate teaching and research experiences here at
UNI. Preparing for the GRE will be discuessed, as well as career
opportunities in psychology, including resources available through
UNI's Career Center. Graduate students from the clinical psychology
will be on hand to discuss clinical psych as a career option
as well as their experiences with the GRE. FREE PIZZA will also
be served!!!
November 3rd - Gossip session. Learn about what professors
to take and which ones will challenge you as a student. The Teaching
Award will be discussed as well as a buy and sell session of
psychology books.
December 1st - Graduate school applications. Learn how
to build your resume/vita in preperation for grad school or a
career straight out of UNI.

Sleep your way to the top! Why sleep is the most important part
of your day.
February 6th - Volunteer Experience Join the club in a
volunteer outing to an area hospital. Tour a sleep lab.
February 13th - The Psychology of Love Why do we fall
in love, and what are we attracted to?
February 20th - Clinical v. Counseling v. Social Work
v. School Psychology Discover career opportunities in each of
these areas, and how they differ.
March 6th - Officer Elections Psi Chi and Psychology Club
members should attend to elect new officers.
March 13th - Poster Workshop Find out how to construct
and present a research poster presentation at a conference. Prepare
for the upcoming conference!
March 27th - Registration Gossip Find out what other students
know about courses and instructors. Learn about being a Teaching
Assistant or Research Assistant.
April 10th - Anxiety and Depression Screening Learn about
these two important disorders and how to detect them in yourself
and others.
April 24th - Pop Psychology... Are you a "dog"
or a "cat"? From Mars or Venus? Consider the reliability
