Membership certificates (presented by Ashley)
- All individuals who have paid their psychology club fee of $5 will receive a certificate of membership.
- Ashley will pass around a folder containing these certificates during each meeting.
Volunteer opportunities (presented by III)
- It is always a good idea to get involved within the community and it build character and your resume/vita.
- There are several opportunities available for volunteering
- III has sheets listing a few possibilities, or contact any other officer
GRE's (Presented by Courtney and III)
- Specific test: 275 questions
- Need to start studying you junior year
- Need to know basic math skills such as algebra and geometry
- These problems can be tricky and require looking at the questions in a different manner
- Use practice problems to practice higher level thinking
- Be able to identify prefixes and suffixes
- Read old English books
- Study Latin root words
- Good idea to get GRE study book
- General tests are completely computerized
- Prep classes are available through career services
- Computer adaptive test
- This means that the more you get the answers right, the harder the questions become. The more answers you get wrong, the easier the questions become until the computer has an average of your total abilities
- There is some disagreement as to whether the test still uses this adaptive measure
- To study for the GRE, become a Teachers Assistant for Intro Psych or History and Systems.
- Look through/read old text books for Intro and H/S
Student and Faculty Achievement Award (presented by Heather)
- Next meeting we will be voting for student and teacher awards.
- These individuals should be an outstanding professor/faculty member or student who has demonstrated a commitment to the Psychology department and the development of its future
Psi Chi Scholarship (presented by III)
- There are three scholarship opportunities available for Psi Chi
- Student want to receive a scholarship need to write a one page essay on why you would like a membership
- This is not need based
- More will be presented about the requirements at the next meeting
Textbook Swap (presented by Amanda)
- Psych Club has started a Facebook event in which you can sign up for text swapping.
- It is up to you to present contact information on the group site and find someone willing to buy/ trade books with you.
