Internships and Practicum

The I-O program at UNI follows the scientist-practitioner model. This means that we think it is critically important for students to apply in an organization what they learned in the classroom.

In their first semester, students complete Organizational Consulting and Change Management, and in the second semester they complete Practicum in I-O psychology. As part of this course, students complete a project for an organization. The course sequence culminates with the consulting challenge in Minneapolis, a multi-day, realistic simulation of organizational consulting.

We also encourage students who plan on working in a human resource or consulting environment after graduation to pursue an internship. We provide contacts for interested students, and the student applies for and arranges the internship.
