Students who earn a bachelor's degree with an I-O Certificate from UNI may apply for admission to our Fifth Year program. The program is 30 credits and allows UNI graduates to obtain the M.A. degree with one additional year of schooling at UNI.

As with our traditional two-year program, the Fifth Year curriculum meets the recommended training guidelines for master's degree programs in psychology published by the Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology.

Applicants for the 5th Year Program should follow the application guidelines for the two-year program in I-O. Note, however, that GRE scores are not required.

Students in the Fifth Year program receive an education in I-O psychology that goes beyond the classroom:

  • Students compete in the Consulting Challenge, a multi-day, realistic simulation of organizational consulting.

  • Students complete a practicum in an organizational setting, applying what they learn in the classroom.

  • Students also complete a thesis, providing an opportunity to investigate an organizational issue of interest to them.
